Getting Involved with Berry Impact
At Berry College, getting involved is more than just a resume opportunity. It’s an essential expression of our Good Neighbor Culture. Berry Impact is the hub for student service opportunities, connecting students to meaningful ways to serve both on and off campus throughout the year.
Whether you’re new to service or already deeply committed, Berry Impact helps you find your place in the work of caring for others and contributing to the greater good.
Why it matters
Service strengthens communities while strengthening you. Students who engage in service report higher levels of belonging, deeper relationships with peers and mentors, and a clearer sense of purpose. You’ll also gain real-world skills that translate to any career: teamwork, problem solving, adaptability and cross-cultural communication.
Where Service Begins
Your Berry Journey starts with a shared moment of service. During Viking Venture, every incoming student participates in a day of service across Rome and Floyd County. It’s a chance to connect with classmates, meet community partners and put our values into action from the beginning.
Ongoing Opportunities to Serve
Throughout the year, students serve through one-time projects, ongoing commitments and special events. Whether you’re volunteering as part of a student organization, athletic team, residence hall or on your own, Berry Impact makes it easy to find meaningful ways to get involved.
From fall’s Solidarity Week to spring’s Be Love Week — and dozens of other service days in between – Berry Impact supports you in engaging deeply with our community.
Track and Explore with GivePulse
Berry students use GivePulse and the Berry Journey Portal to discover service opportunities and keep a record of their engagement. These tools help you reflect on your impact and build a meaningful story of your time at Berry — both for yourself and for future employers or graduate programs.
Year of Service
Year of Service is a living-learning opportunity offered in partnership between Residence Life and the Office of Belonging and Community Engagement. Each year, a cohort of students lives together in a themed campus house and dedicates the academic year to community service, reflection and civic leadership.
Students focus on one of Berry’s nine Good Neighbor service areas and engage in ongoing partnerships that address real community needs. Throughout the year, they also participate in development sessions and events that strengthen their ability to serve with integrity, humility and impact.
Students can apply each spring to be part of the next Year of Service cohort. Residence Life and the Office of Belonging and Community Engagement oversee a collaborative selection process. If selected, students live together the following fall and spring and serve as a key part of Berry’s Good Neighbor community.
