BRAVE (Berry Reducing Assault and Violence through Education) is a project focused on the prevention of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking through education and ensuring appropriate support for survivors. Initially funded by OVW (Office of Violence Against Women) campus grant, the project is now institutionally supported and facilitated through the Office of Student Support and Well-being as part of our Peer Education program on campus.
Through education, we hope to inspire students and the campus community to seek and sustain safe and healthy relationships through dynamic, engaging, and ongoing educational efforts. Through our Coordinated Community Response Team, a combination of students, faculty/staff, and community members, we work to streamline response to incidents by reviewing policies and protocols and ensuring a trauma-informed and fair approach. The BRAVE Project centers survivors and works to ensure that campus community members can access resources and services available to them if they or someone they know has experienced sexual assault, dating, domestic violence, or stalking.
The BRAVE project has ensured support is available to individuals seeking to understand the best resources in their unique situation. The Director of Student Well-being and Support can provide information on how to report to the institution or law enforcement and connect individuals to confidential resources like advocacy services and counseling before reporting, during the reporting process, after reporting, or without reporting at all.
