Berry College’s student newspaper, the Campus Carrier, received 22 awards at the annual Georgia College Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest.
The Campus Carrier won second place in general excellence, second only to the University of Georgia’s newspaper, The Red and Black.
“I think that as a paper, we have grown and improved tremendously,” Editor-in-Chief Carson Bonner, a junior from Houston, Texas, said. “We are always learning and always doing what we can to tell stories that need to be told, and to have that recognized is something to be proud of. I am incredibly proud of our staff and how far we’ve come.”
Nine colleges participate in the Georgia College Press Association. The organization supports journalism in Georgia by providing student journalists with opportunities to network and discuss common issues of college newspapers.
